AVA = AERIAL VERTICAL ARTS was founded in 2010 by Jessica Lyn (a.k.a. Miss J).

Miss J began her pole journey in 2001, performing in strip clubs in Toronto. Later that year, she moved to Paris, France, to study Hair Styling until 2003. From there, she relocated to London, England, where she lived and worked for seven years. During this time, she performed as a stripper and featured artist, dazzling audiences across the UK and went on to become a certified Pole Instructor in 2009. Upon returning to Canada in 2010, she decided to share her passion for pole dance and the art of striptease by opening her own pole studio.

Since then, Miss J has taught over 7,000 students worldwide and has coached hundreds of competitors who have placed at the top in pole dance competitions. Beyond coaching, she has judged and hosted numerous pole dancing competitions and organized over 50 pole showcases. In September 2022, she proudly earned a silver medal in the PSO VIRGO Pole Competition (Entertainment Level 3).

Her recent accomplishments include serving as the lead dance choreographer for Lifetime’s feature film Let’s Get Physical (2022), starring Jenna Dewan (Step Up, The Rookie) and Jennifer Irwin (Schitt’s Creek, The Goldbergs, Superstore). She also worked as the dance double for Jennifer Irwin in the film.

Miss J is also a dedicated advocate for sex workers in the Vancouver area. She regularly hosts showcases in strip clubs, creating inclusive and celebratory spaces for performers, and makes frequent donations to local sex worker organizations, supporting their critical work in the community.
